Equipment Recycling Policy

NEDI is committed to responsible environmental practices and sustainable lifecycle management of audiovisual and electronic equipment.

Purpose

This Recycling Policy outlines procedures for the collection, evaluation, reuse, refurbishment, donation, and recycling of retired equipment to reduce electronic waste and support responsible disposal practices.

Scope

This policy applies to AV and electronic equipment returned to NEDI by clients.

NEDI reserves the right to refuse equipment that is unsafe, hazardous, heavily damaged, or outside the scope of the program.

Program Objectives

  • Reduce electronic waste.
  • Encourage reuse of functional equipment.
  • Ensure responsible recycling.
  • Support client sustainability initiatives.
  • Promote environmentally responsible practices.

Accepted Equipment Examples

Examples of accepted equipment may include:

Displays and monitors
Projectors
Audio equipment
Conferencing systems
Control systems
Mounting hardware
AV cabling and accessories

Equipment Handling Process

Returned equipment will be evaluated and categorized according to condition and reuse potential.

Refurbished and reused
Disassembled for reusable components
Donated when appropriate
Recycled through certified electronics recycling partners

Equipment determined to have no value will be disposed of in accordance with the approved recycling company’s regulations.

Data Security

Clients are encouraged to remove sensitive information before returning equipment. NEDI will make a reasonable effort to reset devices and remove stored configurations.

NEDI is not responsible for data remaining on returned devices.

Recycling Partners

Where recycling is required, NEDI uses qualified and certified electronics recycling firms to ensure responsible handling and disposal.

Customer Participation

Participation in the Recycling Program can be used during system upgrades or replacement projects, or as part of approved service agreements.

Additional transportation, pickup, processing, or disposal fees may apply depending on equipment type, quantity, and location.

Policy Review

This policy may be updated occasionally to reflect changes in operation, changes in regulatory requirements, and changes in sustainability guidelines.
